It all started in the least romantic setting imaginable: a summer Calculus for Engineering III class. One day, on the second floor of Cameron Library, Andy walked up to Hylann when she least expected it:

“Will you go on a date with me?”

Loudly. In public.

To her own surprise, she said yes—even though she’d already clocked him as the enthusiastic back-row question-asker. She saw the potential.

That first date at Upper Crust Café turned into something steady and special. Somewhere between deep talks on the living room floor, summer nights around the fire with friends, and tag-teaming photo shoots (Andy behind the camera, Hylann behind the edits), we found our rhythm.

Andy is nerdy, full of random facts, and firmly believes he’s the funniest person in any room (jury’s still out). He also has a soft spot for dogs, fish, and obscure trivia—roughly in that order.

Hylann is warm, thoughtful, and always up for something new—she’s your “say yes” friend. She’s the kind of person who brings calm to chaos, packs for every possibility (fanny pack included), and never forgets the sunscreen.

She organizes. He improvises. And together, they make the ordinary extraordinary.

In 2023, we spent a rainy morning in Vienna wandering through the Mozart museum, then found our way to a quiet park nearby.

Our shoes weren’t exactly proposal-ready—her purple hiking shoes were the only dry pair left, and he wore his hiking boots in solidarity. Because love, apparently, means never letting your person look ridiculous alone.

We sat on a bench beneath the trees, the air cool and still, the moment completely unplanned. Then Andy reached into his pocket, pulled out a ring, and asked the question.

Now we’re heading to the valley to say “I do”—surrounded by trees, a bubbling creek, and the people who’ve shaped our story.
